International student admission guide
1.Eligibility Requirements
– Freshman Admission: Both parents and students must be foreigners who have completed or are scheduled to complete the entire high school curriculum recognized by domestic or relevant country’s (Ministry of Education) educational institution.
– Transfer Admission: Both parents and students must be foreigners who have completed the equivalent education curriculum to the domestic high school education or have completed at least two years or are scheduled to complete at least two years at a domestic or foreign four-year regular university, or have graduated or are scheduled to graduate from a vocational college.
– Graduate School: Both parents and students must be foreigners who have completed or are scheduled to complete the entire curriculum of a domestic or foreign four-year regular university recognized by the domestic or relevant country’s (Ministry of Education) educational institution.
2. Recruitment Process
The admission and selection process for foreign exchange students is conducted systematically and rigorously according to regulations.
3. Admission Procedure
Strict screening criteria are applied to ensure student status guarantees and assess mathematical abilities, integrity, etc., by requiring the submission of more than 10 types of admission documents.
4. Academic Methods
– Sehan University will focus primarily on Korean language education (TOPIK) and English education for international students, as well as provide Korean cultural education, job education, prevention of dropout education, safety education, and program support (Korean Language Institute, Social Integration Program for International Students), to ensure that no student fails to graduate.
– Students admitted to the Department of Shipbuilding and Industrial Maintenance will mainly have classes focused on on-site training in shipbuilding industries in the 3rd and 4th year.
Operational Method and Support for International Student Programs
– Programs for supporting academic learning and research activities for foreign exchange students at our university are divided into the areas of curriculum-based learning and extracurricular activities.

– A system for emergency contact network is established and operated to prepare for safety accidents.
6. Employment Fields and Guarantees after Graduation
– In 2023, Sunhan University was selected as a “Specialized Visa Pilot Project” by the Ministry of Justice to promote regional industrial development. It was designated as a university for training technical manpower in the local shipbuilding industry and signed cooperation agreements with major companies such as Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Daehan Shipbuilding, as well as more than 300 partner companies.
– After studying the 4-year program in the Department of Shipbuilding and Industrial Maintenance at Sunhan University, foreign exchange students can be employed in Korean shipyards..
ex) if they complete Level 4 of the Korean TOPIK exam and Level 4 of the Social Integration Program, they can be issued specific activity (E-7) or residence (F-2) visas.
ex) Specific activity (E-7) and residence (F-2) visas allow a stay of more than 5 years after issuance, and it is possible to extend the long-term stay during continued employment. Additionally, there is a benefit of inviting family members to reside together if desired.
