Sehan University Participates in the 2023 Carbon Neutrality International Conference Sponsored by Chungcheongnam-do
On October 6, 2023, Sehan University, under the leadership of President Lee Seung-hoon, participated in the "2023 Carbon Neutrality International Conference," which was organized by Chungcheongnam-do and hosted by Chungcheongnam-do Industry-Academia Convergence Institute.
This conference took place at 'Splash Lesom' in Yesan County, Chungcheongnam-do. Distinguished guests included Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do, Helen Clark, CEO of the Under2 Coalition, and Kim Hyo-eun, Ambassador for Climate Change at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. President Lee Seung-hoon represented Sehan University at the conference, and Professor Lee Hye-jeong from the Department of Aviation Services, who is also an advisory board member for the conference, participated in the event as well.
This event featured various themes, including the "Opening Ceremony of the Carbon Neutrality Policy Under2 Coalition A-PAC Forum," "Celebration of Collaboration between Local Governments for Carbon Neutrality," and "Sharing Achievements in Carbon Neutrality Policies of Local Governments in the Asia-Pacific Region."
President Lee Seung-hoon of Sehan University expressed his support for Chungcheongnam-do's leading efforts in climate crisis response during the forum. He stated, "Through this forum, I felt an appreciation for the achievements of Chungcheongnam-do, which is taking the lead in responding to the climate crisis. Sehan University also intends to contribute to Chungcheongnam-do's carbon neutrality through industry-academia collaboration."
On this day, international students attending Sehan University also participated in the event. These students included 29 students from Timor-Leste who joined Sehan University's Yeongam campus on September 4, as well as one student from Turkey and over 30 students from China who were led by their respective supervisors. After finishing lunch at Splash Lesom, where the conference was held, the international students, along with their supervisors, traveled to Sehan University's Dangjin campus.
At the Dangjin campus, students from the Department of Traditional Performing Arts and the Department of Aviation Services warmly welcomed the international students. They provided insights into Korean traditional performances and various aviation-related experiences. The international students enjoyed participating in the programs prepared at the Dangjin campus before returning to Yeongam.
The participating international students considered this event as a valuable opportunity to learn more about the topic of carbon neutrality, which was one of their areas of interest. They also expressed their gratitude to President Lee Seung-hoon and Chungcheongnam-do for providing them with the chance to learn more about Sehan University and Korea through the campus tour and the conference participation.
