"[Mokpo Citizen Newspaper] 'First in the Nation,' Operation of American Pilot Entry Program"

Sehan University (President Yi Seung-Hoon) signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement (MOA) with the main campus of Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) on the 30th of last month regarding cooperation on employment assistance for American pilots and dual degree programs. Under this agreement, Sehan University students will be able to transfer to the main campus of Florida Tech by receiving recognition for the credits they obtained in Sehan University's Aviation Operation Department through a joint program. Following this, students will receive benefits such as full scholarships at the top aerospace/aeronautics university in the United States, along with studying major theories and flight education. After graduation, they will be able to work as pilots for U.S. civil aviation companies or as flight instructors in the United States through OPT visas.

Sehan University also announced that, in addition to operating dual degrees with Florida Tech, the two institutions have agreed to pursue various exchange and cooperation programs among their leaders, faculty members, departments, research institutes, and other centers for mutual benefit. Florida Tech is a prestigious university specialized in aerospace and aeronautics located in Melbourne, Florida, USA, founded in 1958. It has a long history of producing advanced research personnel for NASA and has established itself as an educational institution that nurtures world-class engineers, scientists, professional pilots, and various advanced business professionals. The school is situated in an area densely populated by NASA Kennedy Space Center and high-tech companies.

"Currently, Florida Tech has signed academic cooperation agreements with the College of Engineering at Seoul National University and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in the field of engineering. However, in the aviation field, Sehan University is the only institution engaged in such cooperation.

Florida Tech's Aviation Operation Department boasts its own flight education facility, FIT Aviation, and provides year-round flight training at Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB), offering an optimal learning environment. Graduates of Florida Tech have been employed by U.S. airlines and as flight instructors, with many alumni already working for major U.S. airlines.

Sehan University's Department of Aviation is composed of Aviation Operation (established in 2017), Aircraft Maintenance (established in 2017), Aviation Services (established in 2015), and Air Traffic Management (established in 2017). The Aviation Operation Department, specializing in professional pilot training, made significant strides in 2021 by appointing a new department head, a former professor who achieved the top employment rate among aviation operation programs in Hanseo University. The department is committed to continuous efforts to enhance its curriculum, career opportunities, and education management in line with the needs of private aviation companies.

Under the motto of ensuring that all current students secure employment with private airlines, Sehan University's Aviation Operation Department has continuously signed 'employment agreement-type' pilot training linkage programs and industry-academic cooperation agreements (MOUs) with airlines such as T'way Air, Air Premia, Air Busan, Eastar Jet, Air Seoul, and Pan Pacific Airlines. Furthermore, it is the only institution in Korea that offers a practical and cost-effective dual-degree program with the main campus of a U.S. aviation university, enabling students to participate in the American pilot entry program. What sets it apart in Korea is not just that.

Through the pursuit of an Open Flight School concept, Sehan University aims to be among the top three aviation operation programs in the country by offering specialized training for employment at private airlines such as Korean Air and Jin Air, conducting tailored employment preparation courses for private airline jobs, and providing the highest amount of flight simulator training in the nation (a total of 120 hours).
